Asian Games: India Wins Third Gold as Women’s Kabaddi Team Beats Iran 37-34

India has won its third gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games after the Indian women’s kabaddi team defeated Iran 37-34 in the final. The Indian women’s team has now won a medal at five consecutive editions of the Asian Games.

India secured its fourth medal of the day on Saturday, the seventh day of the Games in Nagoya, Japan. The day’s haul included two silver medals and one bronze medal in addition to the women’s kabaddi gold.

Sawan Barwal Wins Silver in Men’s Marathon

Long-distance runner Sawan Barwal won the silver medal in the men’s marathon with a time of 2 hours 11 minutes 37 seconds. It was India’s first medal in the event in 44 years.

India had previously won a bronze medal in the men’s marathon at the 1982 Asian Games in Delhi.

India Wins Silver in Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions

The Indian team finished second in the women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions event. The team comprised Aashi Chouksey, Tilottama Sen and Vidarsha Vinod.

This was India’s 11th medal in shooting at the Asian Games. Before this medal, India had won one gold, five silver and four bronze medals in shooting.

India’s Medal Tally Reaches 27

Despite the gold medal in women’s kabaddi, India remains 12th in the medal table. Its overall medal tally has reached 27 medals, comprising three gold, 11 silver and 13 bronze medals.

The Indian men’s kabaddi team will face Iran in the final at 2:30 PM on Saturday.
