Doraha, December 23 (Amrish Anand) — The newly carried out ward delimitation ahead of the Municipal Council elections in Doraha has triggered a political controversy. Leaders of the Congress and the Shiromani Akali Dal have accused the Aam Aadmi Party-led state government of making arbitrary changes in the delimitation process, alleging injustice to the Backward Classes (BC) and Scheduled Castes (SC).Under the leadership of former Municipal Council President Mr. Bant Singh Doburji and Akali Dal Councillor Mr. Sarabjit Singh Sethi, political leaders and councillors submitted a memorandum to the Director, Local Government Department, Chandigarh, and later to the Executive Officer (EO), Doraha, demanding a review of the delimitation. They stated that the ward boundaries were drawn without considering population, geography, and public convenience, and alleged that legal procedures were ignored to benefit certain individuals. The leaders demanded immediate corrections and warned of a large-scale public agitation if the issue is not addressed.
