The government has adopted Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to address various challenges in the agricultural sector and provide support to farmers. Several AI-driven initiatives have been launched to enhance efficiency and safeguard crops.
1. ‘Kisan e-Mitra’ AI-Powered Chatbot:
A smart chatbot named ‘Kisan e-Mitra’ has been developed to assist farmers with queries related to the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. This chatbot supports multiple languages and is being enhanced to provide information on other government schemes in the future.
2. National Pest Surveillance System:
To counter crop losses caused by climate change, an AI and Machine Learning-based National Pest Surveillance System has been introduced. This system helps detect pest infestations in crops, ensuring timely intervention to protect yields.
3. AI-Based Crop Health Monitoring:
Advanced AI analytics are being used for crop health assessment through field images. Additionally, satellite data, weather conditions, and soil moisture levels are monitored to assess the health of rice and wheat crops.
