Due to their family background, his family relocated from the village Ghuddani Kalan to Doraha. He completed his matriculation at Government School, Doraha, and pursued his graduation at Guru Nanak National College, Doraha. Although his family was well-off and imposed no restrictions on him, his passion for politics led him to dedicate his time to it. He actively participated in Youth Congress under the leadership of Shaheed-e-Azam Beant Singh, a prominent leader.Recognizing his dedication to social service, he was appointed as the President of the Youth Congress, Halka Payal, under the guidance of freedom fighter Om Prakash Bector, Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Beant Singh, and Dr. Jaganandan Lal Anand. In 1979, he, along with his colleagues, protested against Indira Gandhi’s arrest and voluntarily surrendered at Ludhiana and Sangrur jails. He was deeply committed to social service, taking on initiatives at a time when rural families were reluctant to educate their children, particularly girls. He actively encouraged and motivated them towards education. His passion for social service was ingrained in his blood, and he played an important role in community welfare while remaining active in politics. People from the Halka Payal area and surrounding villages fondly addressed him as “Bali Bector.”In 1972, he and his colleagues from Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Memorial Club played a significant role in installing the first statue of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh at Purani Dana Mandi, Doraha. In 1981, he relocated with his family to Yamunanagar, where he continued his political and social service activities.
