US Ambassador Sergio Gor Visits Golden Temple with 28-Member Delegation, Pays Obeisance

Amritsar: US Ambassador Sergio Gor today paid obeisance at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib along with a 28-member delegation and expressed his reverence for the Guru Ghar. On the occasion, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami and Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Singh Sahib Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj honoured the US Ambassador with a golden model of Sri Harmandir Sahib, religious books and a loai.

SGPC President Welcomes US Delegation

Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami welcomed the US delegation to Sri Harmandir Sahib and said that Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib is a centre of spiritual inspiration for the entire humanity, where people belonging to every religion, section and country come to pay obeisance without any discrimination.

He said that the philosophy of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji conveys the message of equality, service and welfare of all humanity. The SGPC President also discussed with the US delegation the issue of a poster recently issued in the United States using the word ‘Singh’. He said that the post was removed after the SGPC raised an objection through email, but the delegation was asked to take necessary steps to ensure that such an incident does not happen again.

He said that Punjabis, particularly Sikhs, have made a significant contribution to the development of the United States and that the government should take appropriate steps for the safety of every community living there.

Issues Concerning Sikhs in the US Discussed

Meanwhile, Singh Sahib Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj said that devotees belonging to different countries and religions from across the world visit Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib. He said that according to the tradition of the Guru Ghar, every visitor is treated with respect, and prayers are offered in the presence of Guru Sahib for the welfare of humanity and mutual harmony.

He said that the Sikh community has an old association with the United States and that several officers associated with the United States had served in Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s army. He added that issues concerning Sikhs living in the United States were also discussed with the US delegation.

Sergio Gor Visits Golden Temple After 15 Years

During the visit, US Ambassador Sergio Gor received information about the sacred traditions of Sri Harmandir Sahib, Gurbani Kirtan and the service tradition of the Guru Ghar.

Expressing his feelings in the visitor book, he wrote that he felt proud to return to a special place. He had also visited Sri Harmandir Sahib to pay obeisance 15 years ago.
