Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu won a silver medal for India at the Asian Games. She finished second in the women’s 49kg category after lifting a total of 198kg. Mirabai lifted 87kg in the snatch and 111kg in the clean and jerk.

India Wins Three Bronze Medals

Earlier on Wednesday, India won three bronze medals at the Asian Games. Two of these medals came in the shotgun shooting skeet events, while Jai Meena won a bronze medal in soft tennis.

In the women’s event, the Indian team comprising Raiza Dhillon, Parinaz Dhaliwal and Maheshwari Chauhan finished third with 331 points.

In the men’s event, Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Bhavtegh Singh Gill won the bronze medal after defeating Kazakhstan in a shoot-off.

Manu Bhaker Misses Out on Medal

Manu Bhaker, meanwhile, finished fifth in the women’s 10m pistol event. India narrowly missed out on a medal in the team event in the same category. Manu Bhaker scored 181.1 points in the final.

India Eighth in Medal Tally

India is currently eighth in the medal tally with one gold, five silver and five bronze medals.
