Congress Members Allege They Were Not Properly Informed About the Meeting
Doraha, March 13 (Amrish Anand):Reacting sharply to the election process of the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Doraha Block Samiti, District Congress President and former MLA from Payal, S.Lakhvir Singh Lakha, alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government had undermined democratic norms during the election.Speaking to journalists, Lakha stated that out of the 17 zones of the Doraha Block Samiti, only seven members had been elected from the Aam Aadmi Party, while six members belonged to the Congress Party, three to the Shiromani Akali Dal, and one was an independent candidate. He claimed that despite the absence of the required quorum during the meeting, the election of the Chairman and Vice-Chairman was conducted.Lakha further said that the Congress Party would strongly oppose this election and would seek legal opinion before approaching the High Court regarding the matter.On the occasion, S.Gagandeep Singh Landa, a Congress member elected from the Bowani zone and a former Sarpanch, alleged that the administration failed to provide proper information about the meeting to the opposition members belonging to the Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal. He said that the members were informed about the election only shortly before the meeting. He also claimed that several members were not even provided with the agenda of the meeting.Among those present were former Chairman Bant Singh Doburji, Women Congress President Deepy Mangat, Malkit Singh Goga, former Vice-Chairman Sukhdev Singh Bowani, former Chairman Rajwinder Singh Begowal, former Sarpanch Kuldeep Singh Rampur, Dhanna Singh Rampur, former Councillor Mandeep Singh Mangat Soni and Block Samiti members associated with the Congress Party including Manjit Kaur Begowal, Sandeep Kaur Ghaloti, Hardeep Kaur Ghudani Kalan, Gagandeep Singh, Harwinder Singh Bilaspur, and Gurkiratan Singh.
