Parvinder Jhota Murder: CBI Takes Over Probe, Team Reaches Mansa

Mansa: The CBI has taken over the investigation into the murder of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota, with a team reaching Mansa late Tuesday.

Jhota was shot dead inside a medical store on October 13 while confronting illegal drug sales.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann handed the case to the central agency following a demand from Jhota’s family.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the grieving family on Tuesday and promised a thorough investigation. He also criticised the state government for failing to protect voices speaking out against drugs.

The handover comes amid political exchanges over the drug issue ahead of elections. The CBI is examining links to banned substances and plans to interview witnesses.
