Congress stages protest in Doraha over paper leaks, burns effigies of PM Modi and CM Mann

Khanna District Congress demands fair probe into exam paper leaks, seeks resignation of Union Education Minister
Doraha, July 22 (Amrish Anand):The District Congress Committee (Khanna) on Tuesday staged a protest near the Shaheed-e-Azam S. Beant Singh statue at Doraha against the recurring paper leak incidents, accusing both the Centre and the Punjab Government of failing to safeguard the future of students.The protest was led by former Punjab minister S.Gurkirat Singh Kotli, former MLA S.Lakhvir Singh Lakha, Chairman S.Bant Singh Doburji, Vikas Mehta, Kulwant Singh Kalu, Mandeep Mangat, Rajvir Rubal, Rajinder Gahir, City Congress President Vineet Ashat and Block President Gill Berkalan. Congress leaders and workers raised slogans against the BJP-led Central Government and the AAP-led Punjab Government and burned effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. They also carried placards and later burned an effigy of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, demanding his immediate resignation.Addressing the gathering, S.Gurkirat Singh Kotli alleged that repeated paper leaks had shattered the aspirations of lakhs of students and forced the Congress to take to the streets in defence of the youth. He claimed that both the Modi Government at the Centre and the Bhagwant Mann Government in Punjab had failed to prevent examination irregularities. Referring to the NEET controversy and other recruitment examination leaks, he said the credibility of the examination system had suffered severely and demanded a fair and time-bound investigation into all such cases.Former MLA S.Lakhvir Singh Lakha said it was unfortunate that young people had been compelled to protest for the protection of their future. He alleged that repeated paper leaks had destroyed the hard work of deserving candidates and called for strict punishment for those responsible.The protesters unanimously demanded the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, an impartial investigation into all paper leak cases, stringent punishment for the guilty and the enactment of tougher laws to prevent such incidents in the future.Among those present were Ram parkash ,Harinder Hinda, Lakhwinder Lucky, Daljit Jhajj, Inderjit Singh Shalu and a large number of Congress leaders, student representatives and party workers.
