Lula to Take Oath on January 5, 2027

Lula will take the oath of office on January 5, 2027, for a four-year term. This will mark his fourth election as President of Brazil. He will lead the country from 2027 to 2030.

He will face a Congress in which Bolsonaro’s Liberal Party holds the largest number of seats in several decades. Lula will also have to work towards stabilising the country’s public debt.

Lula Shares Message on Social Media

Writing on the social media platform X on Sunday, Lula said: “Once again, the people of Brazil have shown me that when we walk together, no dream is too big. These days have been very hectic. Every meeting, every step and every rally was not just part of an election campaign, but a meeting of dreams that turned into concrete achievements—such as ending the ‘6×1’ work schedule, in which people work six days a week and get one day off.

“Every extended hand and every smile reminded me why I dedicated my life to the struggle of this country’s workers.”
