Maha Kumbh Mela: Major Fire Incident at Prayagraj, 200 Camps Destroyed

A massive fire broke out in the Maha Kumbh Mela area near Shastri Bridge, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, causing extensive damage. The incident, which occurred in Sector 5, reportedly began when a gas cylinder exploded in a pilgrim camp. The blaze engulfed nearly 200 tents before being brought under control.

DIG Vaibhav Krishna, speaking on the incident, confirmed that there have been no casualties reported. "The fire is under control. Fortunately, there was no loss of life, though property damage is extensive. The cause of the fire, likely a cylinder explosion, is being investigated," he stated.

Officials have credited the fire brigade and emergency responders for their prompt action in containing the flames, which could have escalated given the crowded and windy conditions of the mela area.
