The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Wednesday that 22 Indian nationals, including 14 sailors, had lost their lives during the ongoing conflict in West Asia. The ministry also confirmed the deaths of three more Indians in Saudi Arabia.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal expressed deep concern over the ongoing conflict during a press briefing.
“We are deeply concerned about the ongoing conflict in West Asia. We have lost 22 Indian nationals in this conflict, including 14 sailors,” Jaiswal said.
Government in Contact with Indian Community in Gulf
Jaiswal said the government was maintaining regular contact with the entire Indian community living in the Gulf region to ensure their safety and well-being.
“We are in constant touch with our people in the Gulf region for their safety and well-being,” he said.
Three More Indian Deaths Confirmed in Saudi Arabia
Responding to a separate question about Indian fatalities in Saudi Arabia amid the regional situation, Jaiswal confirmed that three Indians had also died there.
However, the MEA did not provide further details about the causes or circumstances of these deaths. It also did not clarify whether the three deaths reported in Saudi Arabia were included in the total of 22 Indians killed in the West Asia conflict.
