President of India Appoints New Judges and Additional Judges to Four High Courts

NEW DELHI: In a significant move to strengthen the higher judiciary, the President of India, exercising powers conferred by the Constitution of India and following consultations with the Chief Justice of India, has approved the appointment of several Judicial Officers as Judges and Additional Judges across four major High Courts.

The appointments span the High Courts of Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Jharkhand, and Karnataka, filling critical vacancies within the judicial system.

Delhi High Court Appointments
The Delhi High Court received the highest number of elevations. Smt. Nivedita Anil Sharma and Smt. Nisha Sahay Saxena have been appointed as permanent Judges. Furthermore, the President has appointed five Judicial Officers as Additional Judges to the Delhi High Court: Sanjay Sharma, Bharat Parashar, Dr. (Smt.) Aditi Choudhary, Dinesh Bhatt, and Arun Bhardwaj.

Jharkhand and J&K and Ladakh High Courts
For the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Shri Yash Paul Bourney has been appointed as a permanent Judge. In the Jharkhand High Court, the bench will be bolstered by the appointment of Manoj Prasad, Akhil Kumar, and Ram Sharma as Judges.

Karnataka High Court
The Karnataka High Court will see the addition of three Additional Judges. The newly appointed officers include Smt. Usharani, K.S. Bharath Kumar, and Smt. Nerale V. Bhavani.

These appointments are expected to expedite the disposal of pending cases and enhance the operational efficiency of the respective High Courts. The elevation of these experienced Judicial Officers follows the standard constitutional procedure involving the executive and the Supreme Court Collegium.
