Major Crackdown by Doraha Police: Parts of 10–12 Cars Recovered from Illegal Scrap Yard, Three Held

Doraha, July 28 (Amrish Anand): In a significant breakthrough against suspected vehicle theft and illegal dismantling activities, the Doraha Police carried out a major raid at a scrap yard situated on the Kaddon–Payal Road, leading to the recovery of parts and components belonging to approximately 10 to 12 cars. The police have arrested three accused in connection with the case and initiated further investigations to determine the origin of the recovered vehicles and whether an organised vehicle theft racket is operating in the region.The operation was conducted under the directions of SSP Khanna Dr. Darpan Ahluwalia and the supervision of SP (D) Pawanjit. The raid reflects the Khanna Police's ongoing efforts to curb organised crime and crack down on illegal activities involving stolen vehicles and scrap operations.Addressing a press conference, DSP Payal S Harmanpreet Singh Cheema disclosed that SHO Doraha Akash Dutt had received credible and specific information regarding suspicious vehicles and dismantled car parts lying in a vacant plot near a scrap yard on the Kaddon–Payal Road. Treating the information with utmost seriousness, a special police team was immediately constituted, which conducted a surprise raid at the location.During the search operation, police recovered a substantial quantity of vehicle parts, including major mechanical and body components believed to belong to 10 to 12 different cars. The nature and quantity of the recovered material raised strong suspicion that the vehicles had been dismantled after being brought to the premises.The police arrested three persons from the spot and registered a criminal case against them. Their identities and role in the illegal operation are being thoroughly investigated.DSP Cheema stated that investigators are now verifying the chassis numbers, engine details, and other identifiable markings on the recovered parts to establish whether they correspond to vehicles reported stolen from Khanna district or other parts of Punjab and neighbouring states.He further added that the investigation is progressing in multiple directions and police are probing whether the accused are members of a larger organised gang involved in vehicle theft, illegal dismantling, and the sale of stolen spare parts. Officials have not ruled out the possibility of more arrests as interrogation of the accused continues.Senior police officers believe that the disclosures made during questioning could help uncover an interstate network dealing in stolen vehicles and illegally salvaged automobile parts. Additional recoveries are also expected as the investigation advances.The Khanna Police have appealed to the public to immediately inform the police if they come across suspicious activities involving abandoned vehicles, illegal scrap yards, or dismantling units operating without proper authorisation. Officials reiterated that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found involved in such unlawful activities.The successful raid once again underlines the commitment of the Khanna Police towards maintaining law and order and taking firm action against organised criminal elements operating in the region.
