Ex-MLA Lakhvir Singh Lakha Joins Lawyers' Protest Against LADC Policy at Payal Court Complex

Payal, July 28 (Amrish Anand): Ex- MLA from Payal and President of the District Congress Committee, Khanna, S.Lakhvir Singh Lakha, joined the ongoing protest organized by the lawyers' fraternity at the Payal Court Complex against the Legal Aid Defence Counsel (LADC) Policy. Expressing solidarity with the advocates, he assured them of his support for their genuine concerns.Addressing the gathering, Lakha said that advocates are an integral part of the judicial system and any policy affecting their profession should be implemented only after meaningful consultation with them. He urged the government to seriously consider the objections raised by the legal fraternity and take appropriate steps to address their concerns regarding the LADC Policy.He further stated that the Congress Party has always stood by every section of society fighting democratically for its legitimate rights and would continue to support the lawyers in their struggle.On the occasion, all office bearers of the Bar Association, Payal, along with senior and young advocates, were present in large numbers. The legal fraternity reiterated its demand for the withdrawal of the LADC Policy and announced that their agitation would continue until their demands are addressed.
