Iraq Seizes Drone-Launching Platform Used for Targeting Saudi Oil Pipeline

Iraq has dismissed the commander of military operations in Maysan province and reportedly ordered a temporary closure of the Shalamcheh border crossing with Iran as a precaution, following an investigation into the drone attacks on Saudi Arabia’s East-West Pipeline.

Saudi Arabia had earlier stated that the attacks originated from Iraq but opted not to respond, instead supporting the Iraqi government’s efforts.

Houthis Claim More Than 100 Saudi Airstrikes in Yemen

In Yemen, the Houthis claimed that Saudi Arabia carried out more than 100 airstrikes in Yemen over 48 hours, even as the Houthis reportedly made major territorial gains along the Red Sea Coast.

Diplomatic Engagement Between Iran and UAE

There were also signs of diplomatic engagement. Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS summit in New Delhi.

It was the highest-level meeting between the two nations since the conflict began. The leaders underscored the importance of supporting efforts to ease tensions, promote de-escalation, and strengthen regional stability.

Iran, Gulf States Expected to Meet in Oman

Reports also suggest that Iran and Gulf states are expected to meet in Oman tomorrow to discuss regional issues and the Strait of Hormuz. However, it is uncertain if all countries will participate, and a concrete agreement to reopen the waterway may not be expected immediately.

Meanwhile, the Houthi’s advance and the Saudi pipeline attack are adding pressure to an already disrupted regional energy and shipping network, with both the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb facing growing security concerns.
