Martyrdom Day of Shaheed-e-Azam Sukhdev Thapar Celebrated by Khatri Mahasabha Patiala – Advocate Rajinder Pal Anand

Patiala:Today in Patiala, under the leadership of Shri Rajinder Pal Anand, former DSP and Advocate, State President of Punjab Police Family Welfare Association Punjab, and Senior Vice-President of Khatri Mahasabha Punjab, the 118th birth anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Shri Sukhdev Thapar was celebrated with great enthusiasm by nationalists and patriots of Patiala.Led by Shri Rajinder Pal Anand, the nationalists of Patiala first gathered at Ghalori Gate, Patiala, where they paid floral tribute to the statues of the three great martyrs – Sardar Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev Thapar – by garlanding them and showering flowers. They raised patriotic slogans and celebrated the birth anniversary of Shri Sukhdev Thapar. To share the joy of the occasion, sweets (laddoos) were distributed among the attendees.Advocate Rajinder Pal Anand shared that across Punjab, the 118th birth anniversary of Shaheed Sukhdev Thapar is being celebrated with grandeur by patriots and especially by all units of the Khatri Mahasabha Punjab in different districts. He mentioned that 118 years ago, Shaheed-e-Azam Shri Sukhdev Thapar was born into a Khatri family in the “Nau Ghar” locality of Ludhiana. At a very young age, he sacrificed his life alongside Bhagat Singh and Rajguru by embracing the gallows to free the country from British rule. It is because of their supreme sacrifice that we are enjoying the freedom today. He further emphasized that nations that forget their martyrs eventually perish, while those who honor their martyrs gain respect across the world.During the event, Shri Rajinder Pal Anand made a heartfelt appeal to Punjab's beloved Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann, requesting the construction of a direct corridor to the martyrdom site of Sukhdev Thapar in Ludhiana—a long-standing need overlooked by previous governments. Since the current government was formed in the name of martyrs and the CM himself took an oath at Khatkal Kalan in their memory, he urged that honoring their legacy by building this corridor be prioritized. He also proposed renaming the Ludhiana Railway Station after Shaheed Sukhdev Thapar. He appealed to the Chief Minister to personally inaugurate the proposed corridor, stating that this would earn him admiration from the 3.4 million Khatris living in Punjab and millions more residing globally.Among the prominent attendees were Shri Ajay Kumar Sharma (Chairman, Punjab Shri Hindu Takht), Shri Vishal Kumar (District Chairman), Karan Verma, Dr. Vinod Kumar, Shri Vijay Vohra, Garjot Singh, and Mahant Bharpoor Das Ji.
