Successful Presentation of the Play ‘Bhasha Wahinda Darya’ at Govind National College, Narangwal

Narangwal, March 7, At Govind National College, Narangwal, in collaboration with the college's Language Forum and the Language Forum of Guru Nanak National College, Doraha, the play Bhasha Wahinda Darya was staged. This play was dedicated to International Mother Language Day.The program began with a recital of the poem Maa Da Dil by Ferozdeen Sharaf, presented by college student Navjot Singh. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Jagdish Kaur (Chairperson, Surjit Patar Chair, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana) as the chief guest.On this occasion, the college principal, Dr. Sandeep Sahni, emphasized that the significance of language is deeply connected to our existence. Punjabi is not only spoken in Punjab but also in various parts of the world.Dr. Sompal Heera presented the solo play Bhasha Wahinda Darya, which was based on the poetry of Surjit Patar. The play was directed by Dr. Kanwal Dhillon, who artistically depicted the historical journey of language. The play highlighted the importance of language and the need to preserve it.Chief guest Dr. Jagdish Kaur stated that Punjabi language is facing challenges today, and finding solutions to these issues is a shared responsibility. In this era of artificial intelligence, we should use Punjabi extensively on the internet and ensure the documentation of Punjabi words.The event was also attended by Dr. Mandeep Kaur, S. Harnek Singh Gujjarwal, S. Amrik Singh, S. Rajvir Singh Kila Raipur, S. Karam Singh, and S. Pardeep Jodha (Brampton), among others. A large number of college students participated in the event.
