International Mother Language Day Celebrated at Guru Nanak National College, Doraha

Doraha, February 17, (Amrish Anand) Guru Nanak National College, Doraha, in collaboration with the Post-Graduate Punjabi Department, Bhasha Manch, and Hindi Department, celebrated International Mother Language Day with the support of the Language Department, Ludhiana.Dr. Sandeep Sharma, District Language Officer from the Language Department, Ludhiana, attended as the chief guest. During the program dedicated to International Mother Language Day, a Poetry Recitation Competition was organized among the students.The event began with a welcome address by Dr. Sompal Heera, Head of the Punjabi Department, who discussed the importance of the mother tongue. During the competition, students presented their poems in Hindi and Punjabi. Addressing the students, chief guest Dr. Sandeep Sharma had an insightful discussion on the current status of the Punjabi language and encouraged students to respect and preserve their mother tongue.In the Poetry Recitation Competition, Ravneet Kaur secured first place, Kulveer Singh came second, and Harsimran Kaur won third place. To honor the chief guest, the college presented a commemorative memento to Dr. Sandeep Sharma.The event concluded with a vote of thanks by College Principal Dr. Sarvjit Kaur Brar. The stage was efficiently managed by Dr. Gurpreet Singh. The event was also attended by Prof. Sandeep Singh Hundal and Senior Assistant Shri Rajkumar from the Language Department, Ludhiana.The organizing team played a crucial role in making the event successful. Special contributions were made by faculty members of the Punjabi Department—Dr. Sompal Singh (Head), Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Prof. Harpreet Kaur Kahlon, and Hindi Department Head, Prof. Navneet Kaur.The college management committee, office bearers, and Principal Dr. Sarvjit Kaur Brar congratulated the faculty and students for the successful organization of the program.
