Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership Between India and Russia Discussed

A Russian parliamentary delegation, led by H.E. Mr. Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, called on the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan today (February 3, 2025).
Welcoming the delegation, the President emphasized that such exchanges between public representatives not only enhance cooperation but also keep bilateral partnerships dynamic and relevant. She highlighted that the ‘India-Russia Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership’ has significantly benefited from continuous interactions at multiple levels.
The President acknowledged the regular engagement between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Vladimir Putin and noted the strong cooperation between the parliaments of both nations. She appreciated mechanisms such as the Inter-Parliamentary Commission, which have played a crucial role in fostering collaboration. She also underscored the importance of greater interaction between women and youth parliamentarians from India and Russia to further strengthen ties.
President Murmu informed the delegation that she had recently inaugurated the New Delhi World Book Fair, where Russia is the Focus Country. She remarked that the fair provides Indian readers with a valuable opportunity to explore Russia’s rich literary heritage. She also called for enhanced cultural and artistic exchanges between the two nations.
